Climate Adaptation Planning & Decision Science for Cultural Resources Postdoc Research Associate

Position: Postdoctoral Research Associate – Climate Adaptation Planning & Decision Science for Cultural Resources

Location: Department of Parks, Recreation and Tourism Management (PRTM), College of Natural Resources (CNR), at North Carolina State University.

The selected individual will engage in social science research to develop and refine a conceptual framework that integrates climate-related influences on coastal cultural resources, national cultural resource policy, and stakeholder values of historic cultural resources. Working with stakeholders, decision-makers and cultural resource managers, a team of NC State researchers and US Geological Survey (USGS) scientists will implement and assess a structured decision-making (SDM) process at Cape Lookout National Seashore for evaluating and prioritizing cultural resources within and between two historic villages (Portsmouth Village and Lookout Village).

Candidates with prior experience in SDM and/or other planning and decision analysis frameworks, knowledge of dual process psychological theories (e.g., HSM or ELM), and experience with both quantitative and qualitative methodologies are strongly encouraged to apply. Experience in GIS modeling is desired but not required.

This is a 12-month, 40-hour per week position with a tentative start-date of July 1, 2015. The position includes a competitive salary and health insurance benefits.
